Never buy a player from Arsene Wenger, as the old adage goes.
The Arsenal manager is renowned as a shrewd seller of players, and on the whole, he does very good business in offloading players well past their best.
His sale of Thomas Vermaelen took that skill to a whole new level, though: Arsenal somehow managed to sell the perennially crocked Belgian to Barcelona for 15 million pounds last summer.
Vermaelen is yet to play a single minute for the Catalan giants this season due to his incessant injury relapses, yet despite this, Arsenal are in line to earn another 3 million pounds for the Belgian, whether he plays this season or not.
If Barcelona win the Champions League, Barcelona will have to pay the additional 3 million pound sum to Arsenal, The Telegraph report.
Arsenal included the Champions League clause in the contract, and will be owed the windfall if Barcelona manage to beat Juventus in the final next month.
