Teenage babysitter, 18, faces jail for persuading boy, 13, to touch her Sexually

Mary-Ellen Mooney

A teenage babysitter who persuaded a 13-year-old boy to touch her sexually while she was looking after another child faces jail for the assault.Mary-Ellen Mooney was WATCHING TVwith the child when she made a pass at him and encouraged him to touch her private parts.

The 18-year-old, who was later attacked by the boy’s family in a vigilante attack, has now been told she could be sent to prison after admitting that she tried to seduce the boy.

A judge heard that Mooney, from Milton Keynes, was looking after a child in January this year when the child’s friend visited the house and was welcomed in.

As the babysitter sat on the sofa with the 13-year-old visitor, she began making sexual suggestions to him and the pair started ‘cuddling’.

Mooney then grabbed the boy’s hand and made him touch her private parts, Aylesbury Crown Court heard.

Richard Milne, prosecuting, said: ‘It was believed that all this all happened in a period of minute and also involved the pair kissing on the lips.’

Days later, Mooney pursued the boy by sending him Facebook messages that were ‘clearly of a sexual nature’, Mr Milne added.

After the allegations came to light, members of the victim’s family confronted Mooney and attacked her, and were later spoken to by police.

Judge Karen Holt said: ‘There have clearly been repercussions FOLLOWING the incident which was, of course, the assault by the boy’s family members.

‘Members of the family clearly took matters into their own hands as feelings undoubtably run high in cases such as this.

‘She is 18 and of good character, he was 13. There was an abuse of trust as he had gone over to the house to see his friend.’

The teenager, who worked in insurance, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual ACTIVITY.

Mooney was told that she has to wear an electronic tag at nights until she is sentenced next month.

The judge said: ‘This is a case that clearly passes the custody threshold and, although this is not certain, you must know that you could face a prison sentence following your offences which you have admitted.’

Last week, babysitter Jade Hatt, 21, was spared jail for having sex with an 11-year-old boy, after her father told a court that the child was ‘sex-mad’ and viewed the assault as a ‘notch on his belt’.
