Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Musiliu Obanikoro has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of rigging the governorship elections in Lagos State.
Obanikoro questioned how the votes cast during the elections on Saturday, April 11, 2015, ended up being more than those counted during the March 28 presidential elections despite a lower turn-out.
The minister made the comments on April 14 via Twitter:
“Compared to the presidential election, fewer people came out to vote last Saturday in Lagos. International observers confirmed this,” Obanikoro tweeted.
“That I congratulated Ambode should not be mistaken for the idea that the gubernatorial elections in Lagos were free and fair. I congratulated Ambode based on the larger interest of Lagos State. Amaechi and his co-travelers in Rivers State should learn from this,” he added.
Obanikoro, who was also a governorship aspirant, congratulated Governor-elect Akinwunmi Ambode after his victory in the elections.
