No fewer than 30 suspected cultists have been arrested in the Ijebu Ode area by the men of the Ogun State Police Command.It was gathered that the police carried out raids on some hideouts in the area, including Fidipote Street, Ogbogbo Village, Ita Alapo, Imaweje Village, and arrested the suspects.


The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday, said some of the suspected cultists arrested were the leaders of the groups, which had killed a large number of residents.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Val Ntomchukwu, had raised special teams to tackle cultism in the state, especially in Ijebu Ode.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police deployed more than 10 teams, such as the Special Anti- Robbery Squad, the Anti-Robbery Unit of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Mobile Police Force and the State Intelligence Bureau, among others.

“These teams are led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Shina Olukolu.”

The PPRO said the CP had commended his men and had ordered a thorough investigation into the suspects’ culpability.
