It was in the same guise that Ebiechina defrauded Oaks of the amount in March 2013, through Western Union on the pretext that he was an American woman dealing in Gold in Nigeria and needed money to increase her capital.

The unsuspecting victim, having already proposed marriage to Ebiechina, not suspecting he was dealing with a man, sent him the money.

It was only after Ebiechina cut all links and communication channels with Oaks that it dawned on him that he had been duped and sent a petition to the US Embassy which notified the EFCC.

Ebiechina, a 21-year-old student of Federal Science and Technical College Yaba, was arrested by the operatives of the EFCC on February 24, 2015.
