President Jonathan message to all Nigerians..

Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections. I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

APC Warns PDP Against Election Rigging. READ HERE>>>>>>>>>>>>

election

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, has warned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against rigging the polls, saying that any attempt to manipulate the exercise would be met with dangerous consequences.
The APC accused the PDP-led government in the state of conniving with the Nigerian Army to rig the Presidential election, having realised that there was no way its candidate and incumbent president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan can defeat the APC flag bearer, General Muhammadu Buhari.
APC also said that it was worried by reports that the leaders of the security agencies had jettisoned every appearance of impartiality for Saturday’s election, rather turning themselves into storm troopers for the Presidency.
Addressing a news conference after an APC stakeholders meeting in Kaduna State on Wednesday, the party’s governorship candidate, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who read the press statement on behalf of other party leaders and contestants, said that the party had uncovered plots by the PDP and Army to use acts of intimidation, harassment and restriction of movement orders against their members to rig the election.

 Muhammadu Buhari

Last night, INEC suspended the official release of the state-by-state vote counts for the keenly contested presidential election. However, with only five percent of votes remaining to be added up, our figures indicate that Mr. Buhari is leading incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan by more than two million votes. In addition, the APC candidate has secured at least twenty-five percent of votes cast in two-thirds of Nigeria’s 36 states. Mr. Buhari has so far won 14,855,820 million votes, with Mr. Jonathan trailing him with 12,107,628 million.

The 26-year-old has not featured for La Roja since a 3-0 triumph over Australia in Spain's final group game at last year's World Cup in Brazil.
Mata, who has scored 10 goals in 34 appearances since making his Spain debut six years ago, wrote on his blog: "Many of you are asking me these days about the Spanish national team.
"As I always say, I have been very lucky to play and to win a World Cup and a European Championship, to participate in the most important competitions, but I'm still excited as the first day.
"I am convinced that I'm in a perfect age in my football career and I look forward to keep contributing and achieving more success with my national team.
"That's what I work for every day, training and playing to the maximum, trying to do the best I can.
"After that, obviously, the manager is the one who picks the players for every game.
"So now I take these quiet days to keep working, as I said, but I also switch off and rest a bit."

NEWS : Dame Patience’s fixation with Buhari'.. READ HERE >>>>>>>>>

patience jonathan cartoon

FOR about two weeks or so before yesterday’s poll, Dame Patience Jonathan crisscrossed nearly the entire southern part of Nigeria wooing voters to her husband’s side. During the period, her animated spirit, unfettered by grammar and logic, presented a stark contrast to her husband’s dour and unremarkable performance on the stump. Her Ă©lan, especially when she began to wax joyous and lyrical in the vernacular and pidgin, was infectious, sometimes provocative, but undoubtedly unforgettable. In a quaint and uncomfortable way, she was the charismatic, entertaining opposite of her husband’s sullen, quivering unease.
Other than the 35 percent women representation in President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet, which she touted as a great achievement, she did not speak to any government programme of any kind; not the economy, for that was obviously beyond her ken, nor anything related to the reengineering of the society, which is doubtless an arcanum to her. Instead she specialised in speaking about her husband’s opponent in the election, Muhammadu Buhari. Indeed she was fixated with the general, who was for about 20 months a former starry-eyed military head of state between 1983 and 1985.
Dame Patience spoke ill of her husband’s opponents, whom she considered enemies, and she was versatile in the art of insults, which she passionately believed her victims richly deserved. She also had foul words for the North’s population dynamics, and fouler descriptions for their idiosyncratic culture. In addition, she had contempt for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which she mocked as an expired drug designed to kill. In fact, no person, idea or institution was too sacrosanct to elicit abuse. But her exclusive preserve, her forte, was her tendentious ascription of base, prejudiced and malevolent motives to Gen Buhari. The general, she said, was planning to jail everybody, because in his first time as head of state, he jailed everybody.
More crucially, as a result of her fixation, and having told herself a lie and believed it, Dame Patience announced during a campaign stop in Oyo State that Gen Buhari planned to jail her after he might have won the poll. She should be careful what she wished for. First, she warned voters not to help Gen Buhari to the throne, for he would jail them hundreds of years. Then, later, she began to personalise the warning, telling her campaign audience that the general planned to send her to prison, an exercise she concluded gleefully in her false religiosity the Holy Ghost would make impossible. Hear her: “I want to warn you not to listen to the All Progressives Congress. The APC does not have materials to match what the PDP has on ground. Their candidate was there in governance initially. What did he do? They only sent your fathers to prison. They are planning to even send me to prison. Holy Ghost fire! Holy Ghost fire! Holy Ghost fire! They have nothing to offer.”

SPORT** FOOTBALL: Spanish star Xavi signs with Qatari side.

Barcelona and Spain's Xavi Hernandez, one of the greatest midfielders of the modern era, has signed for Qatari side Al Sadd, officials in the Gulf claimed on Saturday.
Pictures posted on social media by Al Sadd first-team manager Abdullah Al-Berik said the 35-year-old 2010 World Cup winner had signed for one of Qatar's top sides.
"Al Sadd have just managed to sign Barcelona captain Xavi and this is a picture of him with sporting director Muhammed Ghoulam," Berik wrote on Instagram.
Xavi is therefore set to move to Qatar after the end of this season, despite having a contract with Barcelona until June 2016.
The transfer brings the curtain down on a 17-year first-team playing career with Barcelona, during which time Xavi has won seven La Liga championships, three Champions League titles and two FIFA Club World Cups.
He was also an integral part of Spain's World Cup-winning side in 2010 and their two European Championship triumphs in 2008 and 2012.
He has won more trophies -- 25 -- than any other Spanish footballer.
Xavi has spent his whole career at Barcelona, playing more than 700 games for the Catalan side since his debut in 1998.
Beyond mere figures, he will also be remembered as being a central figure of Barcelona's revolutionary 'tiki-taka' style of football, which relies on possession and passing, and helped the Catalan side to become arguably the dominant team in Europe in the first decade of the century.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said that if the transfer is confirmed, the club will not stand in the way of what would be a surprise move for the iconic playmaker.
"I will say what I did last summer, Xavi has earned the right to decide his future and he has a contract until the end of next season," said Bartomeu.
"If he decides to leave then he will have the full support of the board and I would imagine the supporters. He has the two options and he has the right to decide."
