Nigerian senior basketball team, D’Tigers yesterday emerged champions of Africa at the 2015 edition of the Afrobasket Championship in Tunisia making it the first time Nigeria will be winning the continental competition.


D’Tigers defeated 11-time-winners, Angola 74-65 in Rades, Tunisia on Sunday, August 30, 2015 to emerge champions which also comes with an automatic ticket to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The Nigerian side had an impressive performance at the competition winning 6 out of their 7 games. Their only loss was at the hands of host, Tunisia during the group stage of the games.

Nigeria’s Chamberlain Oguchi was also awarded the tournament’s MVP while players like Alade Aminu and Lawal Oseni also gave outstanding performances.
